The Rain came

Labang'o is the main character in The Rain Came and he is worth writing about because he is a father and he loves his family. The most significant features about Labang'o are his love, his compassion, and his care for his people and his family. The two forces that are at odds with each other is man vs. society because Labang'o's people want to sacrifice his only daughter to bring rain. They are at odds because Labong'o loves his daughter very much and doesn't want her to die and wishes that they would choose someone else's daughter. The reader should learn that life can be dangerous and unpredictable because Oganda, the daughter, had no idea that she was going to be sacrificed and thought that they were discussing her marriage and not her death. A word that I did not know was torrents and it means:A strong and fast-moving stream of water or other liquid and in the story it means that the rain will pour down and it will come down fast.

Is there a science in Morality? Choice in dying

This article is organized from least important to most important because it starts out with the boring science things. The tone of this passage is cynical because it says, "...suggest science is sufficient to accomplish what moral philosophers have been unable to accomplish-..." they are questioning weather or not scientists or philosophers are really correct. This article is explaining weather morality has a scientific explanation. A scientific understanding comes from this email stating, "If you think abortion is wrong because fetuses feel pain, science can in principle investigate that. If you think that torture is wrong because in no case can the suffering of one individual can prevent the suffering of many, that's amenable to investigation, too." But it also says that in neither case would that scientist be examining the morality of action.
One detail that the main idea is trying to get across is when it says, "ways of knowing" which is not really clear because it can't just be "ways of knowing", there has to be more. Another detail is that scientists are as prone to ideological thinking as human beings are, which is saying that scientists are NOT perfect and are still only human and can make false assumptions about anything. One last detail that I noticed was

7 tips to fight the deadly feeling of boredom 3-8-13

This article is going in chronological order. The tone of this passage is kind of relaxed because he is trying to help people out by giving them tips. This article is explaining that there are 7 ways that you can change boredom into something not boring. It is also saying that when you are bored you could look for a way to feel grateful, like for example: When you are waiting in a slow line think, “Maybe the line at the other place is going slower.” that will make you feel better and you won’t be thinking about being bored. Putting the word “meditation” behind everything that makes you bored means that you say,for example: “Waiting mediation.” and it makes you feel a little more relaxed and less bored. Take the perspective of a journalist and study everything around you and it will take all of your thought process away from being bored. Find an area of refuge and just go somewhere mentally that will help you not think about that long list of groceries. What this means for me is that when I am so bored that I don’t even want to read than I should probably use some of these tips to help me not be bored. This means for the world that people should also use these helpful tips.

Say what? Better hearing takes practice

This article is ordered from general to more specific things. The tone of this article is curious because the author sounds like he/she agrees with the scientists' idea. This article is explaining that it is very difficult to have a conversation in a noisy restaurant or loud environment, but with a little practice the brain can learn to hear above the noise. This article also explains how if elderly exercise their brain and memorize what different letters and words sound like then they are more likely to have a better conversation in a loud environment.  Studies show that when elderly practice they can actually hear and understand things better in a loud environment.
"Neural slowing especially affects our ability to hear in a noisy background because the sounds we need to hear are acoustically less salient and because noise also taxes our ability to remember what we hear" says a Neuroscientist. Neural Slowing happens when you can't hear or understand what someone is saying over background noise. "They would listen to words and sentences—all with varying levels of background noise—and had to repeat back what they heard" the scientist experimented in a lab. The scientist would experiment to try to get people to exercise their brain. "Researchers also recorded brain activity to measure how quickly the brain registered hearing the syllable "da" over background noise" researchers studied how quickly the brain processed a sound or syllable.
From reading this article this means that for when we get older we need to exercise our brains and make sure that we can still hear people over background noises. This article taught me about why some people have a hard time hearing over loud noise.

Television really does make you less lonely, says scientists

According to scientists television is a lonely person's best friend. Psychologists say that people who write negative reviews about shows are probably content with their life but the people who write positive reviews must be lonely and not have many friends. People who are more lonely study more facial expressions than most people would if they were not lonely.Lonely people would be able to make stronger connections to the characters in a T.V. show than people who already have a lot of people in their lives. But the downside of this is that focusing on T.V. shows decreases the time for people to make friends and have a social life.

1. Cause and effect

2. The author feels that the scientists are right about television making people less lonely.

3. This article is explaining that people who are "lonely" watch more television and that makes them less lonely. The scientists say that the T.V. becomes their friend instead of them having real friends.

4. "T.V. really helps lonely people" the article says. T.V. seems to create some type of comfort for people. "T.V. serves the same role as friends or family." T.V. could be a humans "best friend" according to phsychologist T.V. is a friend when you are lonely. "People who write negative reviews are probably well-satisfied with the rest of their lives." according to the article the negative reviews about a show, shows that their lives are really very positive.

5. This means for me that I am not very lonely because I don't watch a lot of T.V. and that I am ok with my life.

Logan Rayne Patterson!!! :)

Logan is my baby cousin; she was born a premature baby and developed water in her brain. She had to have several things done at the doctors', I'm sorry I don't know exactly what had to be done but I know that Logan was OK after a while. She had to wear a helmet on her head to make her head shape right because her head wasn't growing in the right shape. Logan had to have a therapist come to her house and help her exercise her muscles and she can now hold her head up and turn herself over and kinda crawl. She is so adorable in her little walker thing that she can walk in. I love Logan Rayne Patterson, she is an awesome cousin and I couldn't think of what life would be like without her. :)

Which chair are YOU in? (random)

Which chair are YOU in? Some of you might answer like this, "What do you mean?" I'm about to tell you. Thos guy, his name is Adrian, he came to preach at revival and he preahes all over the world. He preached about which chair are YOU in one night; he said,"The first chair means that you are a Christian and you do nothing but follow God and you are Christ-like. The second chair means that you are a Christian but you are numb to God, you've gotten used to him and you just go-with-the-flow. The third chair means that you don't know what you are; you don't know if you are a Christian or not. The forth chair means that you are Atheist and don't believe in God at all." so next time you see me wear that shirt you will know what it means and you will be able to tell me which chair YOU are in.
Answer me this: Which chair are YOU in?? comment and tell me your answer. I am sad to say that I am halfway in the second chair and want more than anything to be in the first. Adrian Despres was a football player and when he met his wife, he became a Christian and ever since he has been traveling around the world to speak to teens and adults about God and the Bible. I will never forget the day I met Adrian and heard what he had to say...he stepped on a few of my toes but it was good to hear God's word and hear God speak through Adrian.

God will always be there no matter what!! HE IS THERE!!! You don't have to see him to know that he is there...you just have to believe and have faith. GOD LOVES YOU!!!!
